Welcome to the most complete guide to the GTA 6 map. Grand Theft Auto VI returns the series to a sun-soaked, neon-lit world, and this page is the hub for everything we know about it, starting with the interactive map above, which lets you pan and zoom across the world Rockstar has revealed so far. Below the map you'll find a clear, no-hype breakdown of what is confirmed from official material versus what is still leak or rumour.
We split everything into two buckets and we keep them separate on purpose. Confirmed facts come only from Rockstar Games' own trailers and announcements. Everything else, sizes, exact borders, hidden towns, is labelled as a leak or rumour and should be treated as unverified until Rockstar says otherwise.
Update, 23 August 2026
Rockstar shows more of the game on 27 August. "Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look" premieres on Netflix on Thursday 27 August 2026 at 3pm ET (8pm BST, 9pm CEST), and the same presentation goes up on Rockstar's YouTube channel and the official Grand Theft Auto VI site six hours later. Confirmed Rockstar has not said whether it shows the map.
An alleged full map of Leonida also leaked on 18 August, circulated under the name CYBERLEEK. We have not moved a single marker on the map above because of it. Read why, and what the leak actually claims. Leak / rumour
Use the interactive map
The interactive map at the top of this page is the heart of the site. Use it to explore the world of Grand Theft Auto VI region by region: drag to pan, scroll or pinch to zoom, and tap markers to read about each place. As Rockstar reveals more, the map grows with it, we add new confirmed locations as soon as they appear in official trailers, and we tag anything speculative so you always know what you're looking at.
If you're new here, a good route is to skim the confirmed facts below, then open the locations and cities guides, and dive into Vice City, the beating heart of the map.
What we know about the GTA 6 map
Confirmed by Rockstar
These are the things Rockstar has shown directly in official GTA 6 trailers and posts.
- The map is set in the state of Leonida. Rockstar has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI takes place in Leonida, a fictional US state that is the modern-day reimagining of the world first seen in earlier GTA games. Confirmed
- Vice City returns as the main city. The trailers prominently feature Vice City, Rockstar's take on Miami, complete with beaches, neon strips and waterfront districts. It is the centrepiece of the map. Confirmed

- Leonida is inspired by Florida. From the Everglades-style wetlands to the coastal cities and the keys, the world draws openly on Florida's geography and culture. Confirmed

- It's a single connected open world. Like every modern GTA, the map is one continuous open world you can traverse by car, boat, bike and on foot, no loading walls between districts. Confirmed
- Varied environments are shown. Official footage includes a dense city, sandy beaches, swampland, rural roads and small towns, pointing to a mix of urban and wilderness biomes. Confirmed
If a detail isn't in the list above, assume we are not yet treating it as fact.
Leaks and rumours (unverified)
The following points circulate widely in the community but are not confirmed by Rockstar. We include them because people search for them, but we label them clearly and we never present them as fact.
- Map size estimates. Various figures for total map size circulate online, often claiming it is significantly larger than GTA 5's. These numbers come from leaks and fan estimates, not Rockstar, treat them as guesses. Per leaks/datamines, unverified. Leak / rumour
- Additional cities and towns. Several town and city names have appeared in leaks and the well-known 2022 footage leak. None beyond Vice City have been officially named on the final map. Per leaks, unverified. Leak / rumour
- Exact regional borders. Detailed "full map" images shared online are fan reconstructions or leak-based, not official cartography. Per leaks, unverified. Leak / rumour
We dig into each of these in their own guides, always keeping the line between fact and speculation sharp. See the leaked map page for how those claims stack up.
Explore the map in depth

The GTA 6 map is big enough to warrant its own set of guides. Each one keeps the same confirmed-versus-rumour discipline as this page:
- Map size, what's actually known about scale, and which size claims are just leaks.
- Map vs GTA 5, how Leonida compares to Los Santos and Blaine County.
- Locations, the confirmed places, districts and landmarks shown so far.
- Vice City, the main city, its districts and its real-world Miami roots.
- Leaked map, what the leaks claim, and why we treat them cautiously.
- Map vs real life, how Leonida maps onto real Florida geography.
- Cities, every settlement, confirmed and rumoured, kept clearly separate.
Why trust this map
We are an independent fan resource, not Rockstar. That's exactly why we're careful: our whole value is keeping confirmed facts and rumours apart so you don't get misled. We cite trailers for everything we call confirmed, and we tag everything else. When Rockstar releases new official footage, we update the interactive map and these guides to match.
